Launching Our Sailboat For The 1st Time

Here is our almost beautiful 1983 Catalina 22 sailboat. We didn’t want to waste a perfectly good Sunday so we picked up the boat from Matt’s and left the mast there. We decided to put her in for a few hours just to putt around the intracoastal. The funny looks from people who knew it was sailboat without a mast was hilarious.

It was fleet week and the Ft. Lauderdale air show so we assumed the boat traffic would be pretty bad and we assumed right. It still wasn’t that bad though. We watched a bunch of cruise ships leave the port and saw a lot of cool boats, and even a battleship!

The cooler was full of beer and but we didn’t seem to need much of it. Just being high on life was enough! Much needed R & R after all the wedding planning and festivities.

She has to go back soon for a few more fixes. The radio needs to be connected and she needs some bottom paint. We might as well name her and paint that on too. Still have no idea what we should name her though… Any ideas? is “Breaking Wind” too immature?
